Renowned Writer Mustafa Akyol Visits Raindrop Turkish House
Mustafa_AkyolOn April 14, 2012, The Institute of Interfaith Dialog and Raindrop Turkish House in Lenexa proudly hosted a lecture and book signing by acclaimed Turkish columnist and author Mustafa Akyol as part of their ongoing Distinguished Speaker Series. Mr. Akyol was touring across the U.S. promoting his latest book Islam without Extremes: A Muslim Case for Liberty.

The evening began with a small gathering of distinguished guests at Raindrop Turkish House for a conversation with the author and a preview of his presentation. This discussion was followed by a light repast of Turkish cuisine. The party then repaired to the Tomahawk Ridge Community Center in Overland Park for the evening’s main program. Annual Dialog and Friendship Dinner


The Institute of Interfaith Dialog and the Office of Diversity and Access at UMKC along with Raindrop Turkish House held its 8th Annual Dialog and Friendship Dinner on November 9, 2011 at the University's sparkling new Student Union to promote mutual understanding, friendship, and reiterate the importance of common human values in pursuing peace among all humanity.  (November 9, 2011 Kansas City, MO)

Raindrop Turkish House hosted Johnson County Sheriff Frank Denning

Raindrop_JoCo_SheriffRaindrop Turkish House hosted Johnson County Sheriff Frank Denning and members of the Sheriff’s office on November 3, 2011. Sheriff Denning has been serving the law enforcement community for 30 years. He joined the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department in 1978 as a Deputy serving in the Adult Detention Center.  He’s been an active participant in many law enforcement associations and is a graduate of the 196th Class of the FBI National Academy and a current member of the Kansas-Western Missouri chapter of National Academy graduates. He is a life member of the Kansas Peace Officers Association, serving as President and currently as Governor Emeritus, and a member of the Kansas City Metropolitan Chiefs and Sheriffs Association, the Kansas Sheriff’s Association and the International Association of Chiefs of Police. Constructive Lessons from 9/11

Anniversaries of special events have a life and impact that go beyond the actual dates themselves. Many are specific to individual families: wedding anniversaries; birthdays; memorials of the deaths of loved ones. Various nations also have various special dates that are prominent in their corporate memories and celebrations. Cinco de Mayo in Mexico celebrates an unlikely victory over French colonial troops by the Mexican Army in 1862. Indonesia's Proklamasi, celebrated on August 17, is the date in 1945 when the armed resistance to the colonial Dutch regime was begun. (September 22, 2011 Kansas City, MO)




Ramadan Bayram Celebration at Raindrop Turkish House
bayram_candiesRaindrop Turkish House hosted Ramadan Bayram celebration on August 30th with Turkish Americans living in Kansas City metro area. At 7:00 p.m. families along with their children gathered at Raindrop Turkish House. While guests were congratulating each other on Ramadan Bayram, as in the tradition guests were offered delicious Turkish dessert along with tea, guests were also offered homemade Turkish food for dinner, and then kids got special presents and gifts along with sweets and small amount of money from the guests and Raindrop Turkish House.
