On behalf of Raindrop Turkish House, I would like to invite you to our signature event, Annual Nowruz Spring Festival on Saturday March 19-20, 2016 from 11:00 am. To 9:00 pm. at Turquoise Center in Houston Texas. The festival gives Turkic Countries (Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkmenistan, Turkey and Uzbekistan) the opportunity to showcase their singing and dancing talents in various performances while representing their own country. The countries will be showcasing their singing and dancing talent in their native language and culture at this first class Nowruz Spring Festival.

You and your guest will enjoy the live international music, dance and choreography performances in a warm and peaceful environment.

Raindrop Turkish House at Dallas invites you to attend the fascinating cultural art performance of Whirling Dervish on Saturday, March 12th

Raindrop Turkish House at Dallas, Texas, will be holding Whirling Dervish show this Saturday night at 7 pm. While a Turkish musician plays devotional Sufi music with the unique instrument of ‘ney’ or reed flute, a Dervish will spin on a stage representing a highly spiritual nature of Sufis with his traditional dress on. Light refreshment will be served as well as babysitting will be available. If you would like to enjoy this fascinating cultural event with your family and friends, we will be happy to host you at the Raindrop Turkish House in Dallas.

The Whirling Dervish, also known as Sufi whirling, is a folkloric stage show performed by Semazens who represent the Mevlevi order of Sufi fraternity. Started as a spiritual ritual in around 12th century Turkey, Sufi whirling now serves as a powerful display that is performed in a trans-like state.

Our thoughts are with the victims of ‪#‎ankara‬ terror attack.

I would like to extend heartfelt condolences to all affected by the brutal terrorist attack that claimed 28 innocent lives and injured 61 others in Ankara, our nations capital. This cruel attack targeted the military service personnel of Turkey and left the nation mourning.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all the victims of this tragedy while we wish a speedy recovery to all who were injured.

I strongly condemn all acts of terror. Regardless of where an attack occurs, any form of terrorist activity is a damage to peace and harmony of universal humanity. This heinous act of terrorism is not only an attack against Turkey, but an attack against all human values and unity.

Annual International Festival of Language and Culture was held on Saturday, Feb 6, 2016.

iflcThe 14th Annual International Language and Culture Festival, organized by Raindrop Foundation, was held at Hobby Center in Houston on Saturday February 06, 2016. The Raindrop foundation is pleased to entail the tremendous success of the event. With a sold out venue of over 3,000 people combined from all walks of life, everyone enjoyed together this festive atmosphere of live performances in different languages including English, Turkish, Spanish, French, German and many more.

RAWA Panel Discussion and Networking Event

IMG 7312Women's Influence in Non-Profits- A panel discussion organized by University of Houston, Downtown and the Raindrop Women’s Association Houston.

The room was packed. Over 140 guests were there during the panel discussion event. The program started with dinner. David Flores, President of University of Houston-Downtown, gave the opening speech. UHD was the main sponsor and partner organizer for the event. Filiz Camuz, Executive Director of RAWA Houston has also welcomed guests. The MC of the evening was Heidy Kahle from UNICEF USA.

The moderator of the discussion was Ronnie Hagerty, Assistant VP United Way of Greater Houston. Speakers were Dorothy Gibbons, CEO of The Rose, a non-profit breast cancer organization, Alecia Lawyer, Founder of River Oaks Chamber Orchestra and Susan Meinholz, Board President of FamilyTime Crisis and Counseling Center. It was a priceless conversation that full information based on experience. What is the boards role? How to reach out people to find donors? What are the struggles? Why the speakers chose the non-profit path as career? Those are some of the topics that were discussed. After their speeches, audience ask their questions and the panel discussion was over. RAWA Houston advisory board member, Noami Ostfeld, presented custom made necklace to each speaker. Necklaces were made by Hatice Avsar, a polymer clay artist.The audience also enjoyed the beautiful music performance by Alice Lawyer.
