Cooking Class Cooks will prepare Turkish Breakfast |
Raindrop Turkish House offers the second Turkish food cooking class on Saturday, February 6, 2010 between 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. This week's menu will be for breakfast time. Our cooks will try to prepare Kumpir, puffy pastry with sausage, cake, eggplant salad, homemade bread. And Turkish white cheese, Black olives, green olives, tomato and cucumber salad will be served for a beautiful saturday breakfast. They will also teach how to prepare Turkish Tea. The monthly “Ladies Coffee Night” |
The monthly “Ladies Coffee Night” of the season took place on January 23rd at the Raindrop Turkish House of El Paso. This time topic was Noah’s Pudding. The program started with the presentation about the Noah’s Pudding, the Legend of this celebration comes from, and then continued with some fun activities, games and competitions, and ended up with lots of delicious Turkish meals and unique Turkish coffee. Raindrop Turkish House offered the first one of Turkish cuisine cooking class on Saturday, January 23, 2010. Our cooks presented how to make potato salad, spinach borek, semolina dessert and puffy pastry with cheese and sausage. Today, we watched a brief documentary about Turkish coffee. While one of our cooks was doing a presentation about Turkish coffee, other cook prepared Turkish coffee for us. And then, we drank our coffees with Turkish delight together in a friendly atmosphere. The coffee cups were perfect and participants wanted to know where they can find them. For this time, our menu was for tea time. Our participants wanted us to cook for breakfast time for the next time. Here are the comments of the participants: “Excellent both of you did a great job. Thank you so much for your time.” , “ I like your class a lot, it has a simple form to have things together, I would like some dishes help my health better.” , “Good job. More dinner items & more hands on for participants. Thank you” , “Very good Instruction on how to prepare Turkish food. Very friendly and informative”, “Very good everything you do great!”, “Loved the class! Can’t wait to make spinach borek!” , “Wonderful food and excellent instructors. El Pao Raindrop has organized a help campaign to refugee families from Burma in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Help campaign was not only organized by El Paso Branch but also by other 18 branches of Raindrop in six other Southwestern States of USA. El Pas cities have donated their clothes, not the old ones but new or barely used ones. Donations collected by all Raindrop Branches are as follows; 13 pallets of clothes, $18,000 given as gift cards and also $15,000 was given from meats of animals slaughtered in Eid'ul Adha. As a Raindrop Helping Hands, we want to thank to our community who have generously donated to help for a good cause.
